“Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions” (GATI) initiative conceptualized and started by the WISE-KIRAN division of the Department of Science & Technology
I am very happy that NIT Rourkela has been selected for the prestigious “Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions” (GATI) initiative conceptualized and started by the WISE-KIRAN division of the Department of Science & Technology. I am delighted to know that this program, the brainchild of the WISE-KIRAN division, was launched by the Hon’ble President of India on the occasion of National Science Day on 28 February 2020. The unique point which is noteworthy is that we, along with 29 other pilot institutions, will work collectively for Gender Equality in the fields of Science and Technology in this journey of 18 months. Partnership with Athena SWAN awarded UK institutions will enhance our knowledge and learning about achieving gender parity. I am eagerly awaiting the promotion of novel best practices at NIT Rourkela under the guidance of the WISE-KIRAN division of DST. I am looking forward to more fruitful interactions.
Director
I am very excited to be part of the GATI initiative as the nodal officer coordinating the effort toward bringing gender equity in STEMM. Being a father of two wonderful daughters, I feel privileged to be part of this program, which I believe will help the present and future generations. I am committed to doing my best to closely work with the WISE-KIRAN division to promote and implement gender equality at NIT Rourkela.
